Iran has accused US forces of striking its Konarak naval base on Monday, October 19, saying two Iranian military personnel were wounded and an anti-aircraft gun was damaged. The reported incident adds to tensions between Washington and Tehran amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

According to reports citing Iran’s navy, two light projectiles hit the naval facility in Konarak, in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province. Iranian accounts said the attack targeted a 35mm anti-aircraft gun at the military complex.

The reported strike has not been independently verified. No US confirmation of the specific attack was found in the available reporting at the time of writing.

Konarak is located on Iran’s southeastern coast near the Gulf of Oman. The area has strategic importance because of its naval facilities and its proximity to shipping routes connecting the Gulf of Oman with the Strait of Hormuz.

The reported incident comes as the United States and Iran remain involved in a wider confrontation over military operations, maritime security and access to the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global oil shipments. Recent attacks on commercial vessels and restrictions on shipping have raised concerns about further disruption to regional trade and energy supplies.

It remains unclear whether Washington will respond publicly to Iran’s latest allegation or whether Tehran will announce further action in response. Additional details about the reported strike, the damage to the facility and the condition of the wounded personnel have not been independently confirmed.
