White House blocks CNN from Air Force One for Trump’s Tennessee trip

The White House has blocked CNN from traveling with President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One for his Saturday trip to Tennessee. CNN had been scheduled to cover the president on behalf of the television press pool, but the network was removed from the list of outlets traveling with Trump.

CNN said it had been scheduled to fly with Trump to Tennessee on Saturday for a college football game. The White House confirmed the network’s exclusion by leaving CNN off the list of outlets assigned to cover the president’s trip.

The presidential press pool is a rotating group of television networks that share responsibility for covering and recording the president during official events and trips. CNN had been part of those pool duties, but its exclusion came after the White House barred the network from participating in the pool.

The move comes amid an ongoing dispute between the White House and several news organizations over media access. Last week, the administration barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from accessing the White House. A federal judge later temporarily blocked the decision and ordered the administration to restore the reporters’ credentials for 14 days.
